Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 22, 2026 · Last updated: July 1, 2026

lokcally ("the app", "we", "our") is an iOS app that displays calorie information for selected restaurants in the Philippines, sourced from in-store menu boards mandated by Quezon City Ordinance SP-2924, S-2020.

lokcally is distributed exclusively in the Philippines App Store. We built it with anonymity as a core principle. This policy explains what data we do and do not collect.

Information we do NOT collect

Information stored on your device only

The following data lives in your device's local storage and never leaves your device:

If you delete or reinstall the app, this data is permanently erased.

Anonymous usage analytics

To power features like "Most-viewed food overall" and "Trending searches", we collect aggregate, anonymous event data using Google Firebase Analytics and Cloud Firestore:

Firebase's own data handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Data retention

Firebase Analytics retains event-level records for up to 14 months by default; we have not configured a shorter window at this time.

Our Cloud Firestore aggregate counters (for example, the running count of times a meal has been logged) are retained indefinitely as anonymous totals. They contain no identifier that can be traced back to you.

The only data tied to your specific device is stored locally — to erase it, delete the app from your device.

Push notifications

If you grant the iOS notification permission, lokcally subscribes your device to one or more broadcast topics through Firebase Cloud Messaging (such as menu updates or new restaurant announcements). All subscribers to a topic receive the same announcement at the same time — there is no per-user targeting. We do not store your push token, link it to your activity, or use it to identify you.

You can choose which topics you want to receive inside lokcally's Settings → Notifications, or revoke the entire permission anytime via iOS Settings → lokcally → Notifications.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics automatically sends an anonymous crash report to help us fix the bug. A typical report contains the device model, iOS version, app version, and the technical stack trace at the moment of the crash. It does not include your name, contacts, location, or the contents of your diary, favorites, or onboarding answers.

Crash reports are retained by Firebase for up to 90 days by default, then deleted. We use them only to diagnose and fix crashes.

Apple App Store

When you download, install, or update lokcally from the App Store, Apple receives standard install, crash, and usage telemetry per Apple's App Store Terms. This is independent of any data lokcally itself collects, and we receive only the anonymous, aggregated reports Apple provides to developers.

Apple's privacy practices are documented at apple.com/legal/privacy.

In-app purchases

If you buy the optional "lokcally+" upgrade, the payment is processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID.

Apple provides the app with an anonymous entitlement receipt so we can verify your purchase and unlock the paid features on your device. The receipt does not include your identity.

Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Third-party data sources

Calorie figures in the app are transcribed from photographs of in-store restaurant menus, which Quezon City restaurants are required to display under QC Ordinance SP-2924, S-2020. We do not collect or share data with the restaurants whose menus we reference.

Children

lokcally is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13.

Your rights under Philippine law

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to be informed about how data about you is processed, to access or correct personal data, to request erasure, and to file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.

Because lokcally does not collect personal data, most of these rights do not generate practical requests against us. To erase the only data the app holds about you (your local on-device storage), delete the app from your device.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be flagged in the app on next launch.
